Watching the GDC video a great point that I had not thought of yet was brought up. He mentions that when you write your rules they should appeal to two different audiences. The first of which being new players. The instructions should be simple enough that a new player can pick them up and have a basic understanding of what to do. The instructions should also appeal to the returning player. These players know the basics of the game but may need a refresher on certain actions so those should be easy to find. This is something we will have to keep in mind while building our final game especially since we are planning to have several different cards players can draw. The second video I watched was about playing Dixit. The game was easily explained by the guy in the video. Even without knowing what the game was before his explanation was easy to follow. While this game is much more simple than the one we are planning to make for our final we do want to mirror this game's ease of play. This easy play style keeps the game fresh and allows players to sit back and relax and enjoy the game with their friends. We have started to make rules for our game during the prototyping classes this week ,but after watching these videos I see that we need to simplify things and that could possibly mean removing some parts of the game. While removing these actions in the game may not be ideal they may complicate the game too much and confuse the players. The Dixit video also talks about how the game differs between three and four players. This is something I think we should look into to decide if everything will remain the same or if slight modifications are needed.

Dixit is one of my favorite games! I’m glad you came across it.
